My life calling and work has always been the work of the heart. I believe there is an intelligence in the heart and that the quality of our lives is determined largely by our ability to connect with that intelligence. I believe that when we connect with our own personal heart space with the willingness to do the work to heal and change our own heart response and behavior, our lives become balanced, peaceful, honorable, joyful and love-filled.
I held my first professional role as a Mentor at the age of 19 years old working in an emergency shelter providing crisis care for neglected, abandoned and abused infants, children and teens. When my one-year internship ended, I knew my life had been touched forever by what I had experienced and seen. I was also humbled by the depth of compassion I held within and my direct experience that such compassion had the power to uplift and even save lives.
Since then, for the past 17 years, I have had the privilege of exploring and developing my passions and gifts through humanitarian and philanthropy work in Mexico and South East Asia, facilitating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for adults and families in addiction recovery through the S.M.A.R.T Recovery Program, holding roles as an ambassador for various charity organizations aiming to enhance the welfare of women and children, working in private education as a Mentor for children, and, most recently, holding professional roles as an Educator, Coach, Coordinator, Mentor and Manager for the world leader in International Education.
The evolution of becoming an Educator, Mentor and Coach, and really the woman I have become through the years, is the direct result of the depth of heart-work I have had to do in my own journey in order to heal, overcome, create a more beautiful life and thrive. It has been through my professional work as well as the tremendous transference of wisdom, love and grace from mentors, coaches, and therapists over the past 15 years and through the transformational work I have done with them in my own life that I have been able to powerfully become all that I have overcome.
My personal life experience has taught me that no matter what has happened in our lives, no matter the choices we have made, with willingness, love and faith, it is possible to shift, rise, transform and become a higher, greater and truer expression of ourselves.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Sociology with a minor emphasis in African Studies from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD); I am a certified Educator of Effective Communication Strategies from The Want Institute led by Dr. Patricia Allen and certified Spiritual Life Coach from Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development led by Dr. Iyanla Vanzant. I am currently enrolled as a student in a 3-year practitioner certification program at the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute led by Dr. Peter A. Levine.
My long-term vision is to create and implement experiential programs that will educate and empower the youth of the world. By equipping not only ourselves but also our youth with the knowledge, tools, skills and support they need to thrive in this New World, we do our part to leave humanity, and this magnificent planet, better.
